A reverse-Hallmark Christmas movie where the country girl finds her city HEA.– Isabelle Drake
The week before Christmas, quirky, country girl Emma Lopez is in New York City, aiming to win a social media contest for small-business owners. Minutes before her high-stakes interview, an impulsive, sizzling kiss under the mistletoe with a handsome businessman turns into an even bigger surprise
She goes all-in enjoying the holiday excitement of the city and shaking up a certain dapper businessman. Thanks to a snowstorm, her phone, and a couple more kisses, she counts herself a winner. Then, her high-spirited attitude leads to an unexpected opportunity of a lifetime, one she’s certain she can’t accept.
This book is a fun, quirky, and lovely romance.
A bit predictable, but at the same time I was a bit surprised. It was a typical Christmas book, the guy and girl fall in love, etcetera, etcetera. However, the ending was not at all what I predicted! I did like the twist from CEO finds a liking in the little Midwest farm boy that most Christmas books are. The reverse of the small midwestern girl not only falls in love with the big city CEO, but the city as well!
The characters are very enjoyable and likable, the perspectives switch from Emma to Ethan. Which I really enjoyed being able to see into both their lives, not just a single character.
The character development throughout the book was great! Seeing Emma blossom into a great business leader. However, I felt that Ethan’s story never finished. He went from uncertainty to, finding a girlfriend and that’s it. What happened with his job? The company?
Overall, it has some predictability and unfinished business, but between the sizzle of Emma and Ethan’s romance and the happy ending for the characters makes this a great Christmas read!
