“It’s always been you.”-Debbie Mason
Actress Chloe O’Connor has become America’s sweetheart, but back in little Christmas, Colorado, she’s still remembered as a shy, awkward schoolgirl. And there’s no one she dreads (and secretly wants) to see more than her high school crush, Easton McBride. Just one look from the former star quarterback and it’s like she’s instantly transformed from daytime drama queen to tongue-tied teenager. She’s kissed Hollywood actors and famous cover models, so she can certainly play it cool while turning up the heat, right?
After an injury ended his military career, Easton McBride built a good life in the rugged countryside of his hometown. And the last thing he needs is his quiet solitude shattered by a high-maintenance temptress who isn’t anything like the sweet Chloe he misses. While he enjoys the flirtation with this new bold and beautiful woman, he can’t help but wonder whether a kiss could have the power to bring back the small-town girl he’s grown to love.
I didn’t realize this was part of a series. However, it was super easy to read and follow along with despite not reading the preceding books. However, I do think I need to read the rest, and that I did miss out on a lot more back story.
I thought this would be a sweet, fluffy, little romance story that would have me swooning the whole time.
It has its swoony romance, but it is an emotional bumpy roller coaster that had me crying happy tears, sad tears, angry tears, all the feels.
The love story; enemies to lovers! My favorite kind of love story! The character development is amazing!
The writing is absolutely beautiful, I have definitely found myself a new must buy author!
The book went from Chloe’s perspective to Easton’s and I loved that! It gave the reader a view into why Chloe acted the way she did and put a meaning behind her dramatic, diva facade. It also let the reader see Eason’s view of Chloe shift from drama queen and very strongly disliking her to falling for her.
Overall, it is a beautiful romance story with a lot of depth and character growth that also is written absolutely beautifully!
