“Come to me all you who are weary and heavily burdened and I will give you rest.”-Matthew 11:28
– E. S. Holmes
Ellen Kane and Ryan Salas felt a spark from the first day they met on a college campus. The more time they spent together, the stronger their bond became, but after a life-changing event and an unforgivable mistake, Ryan and Ellen have to live out their dreams on separate paths. Ryan, the face of an NFL franchise, is making himself known in the professional football world. He gets to live out his faith daily on the biggest stage possible, but he has one desire yet to be fulfilled. To have his Ellie by his side. Ellen, a famous sports journalist, has made a name for herself in the writing world. She finally feels content with life and feels she is where she needs to be, but a hole in her heart that has been there for years is still wide open. Football remains their common bond after all these years and when a tragic event brings chaos to their world, will they find each other again? Will Ellen’s faith be restored with a second chance?
I absolutely loved this book. First I loved the romance. Ellen was a bit annoying with constantly thinking she wasn’t good enough and didn’t deserve a good relationship. However, she does make some mistakes that make me want to smack her! But without this, the story would have had no substance and this is what made it such a great book!
Ryan Salas is literally every girls dream, or at least mine! Seriously can I marry him?! He did not care what other thought, he was very strong in his faith and he let the world know. He was very forgiving and just full of love, for both God and the game, and of course Ellen!
The book revolves around a lot of football, it’s both Ryan and Ellen’s common ground. I know hardly anything about football, you would think I would know more considering I was cheerleader in high school. But, even with the lack of knowledge and interest in football, this book had me on the edge of my seat cheering on Ryan and his team the whole time!
Overall, this is great book about romance and not beating ourselves up over our past and not only forgiving, but accepting forgiveness from others and forgiving ourselves as well.
