The Princess Saves Herself In This One Review

“The princess locked herself away in the highest tower, hoping a knight in shining armor would come to her rescue. – i didn’t realize I could be my own knight.”

– Amanda Lovelace

A poetry collection in four parts: the princess, the damsel, the queen, and you. The first three sections piece together the life of the author while the final section serves as a note to the reader. This moving book explores love, loss, grief, healing, empowerment, and inspiration.

A blend of fairy tale and real life with an amazingly beautiful result! There is raw emotions and life experiences that, sadly, many face on this world. From abuse as a child from a parent(s), to relationship and domestic abuse, along with both physical and mental abuse. There is pain, suffering, loss, self-harm, eating disorders, loss, reflection, love, but most of all, self-love and empowerment.

“Food is not the enemy- society is.”

– Amanda Lovelace

I found this book of poetry to be very powerful and uplifting. It shows the power that a woman bestows and that we can persevere through all our trauma and hardship, and that our past does not define us.

Every female should read this book, especially those going through a tough time and need some uplifting and empowerment. Even if you don’t, it is a great reminder at how amazing woman are.

Overall, I loved this book, and everyone should read it!

“If you ever look at your reflection and feel the desire to tell yourself you’re not good enough, beautiful enough, skinny enough, curvy enough, then I think it’s about time you smash that mirror to bits, don’t you?-use those fragments to make stepping-stones to your own self-love.”
